It needs protection from harsh sun and from frost, but does well in coastal conditions. Is fairly drought tolerant.
This is a large multi-headed succulent. It has rosettes of leaves which are waxy and green with spiny edges, although these spines are not as formidable as those on some other aloes. In cold weather the leaves are tinged with red. In winter this plant sends up spikes of showy orange flowers.
Optimal Soil:
Sandy soil is best, but this plant is not fussy as long as the soil drains well.
