Need plenty of room to grow. Even though in its natural habitat it grows on the edge of swamps and lakes, this tree prefers to not be overwatered.
Native to the Southern US, this evergreen tree has large glossy leaves and saucer sized, very fragrant lemon scented white flowers. The brown fruit pods are also large and split open to show bright red seeds in fall. Even though it is an evergreen, it does shed litter which some consider a nuisance as the leaves are so large.
