This cultivar is a dwarf Magnolia. The leaves which are glossy green on the top and rusty brown underneath, are smaller than those of Magnolia grandiflora. The flowers are also smaller but still have the wonderful lemony fragrance associated with evergreen Magnolias. . The brown fruit pods splits open to show bright red seeds in fall. Has a columnar form when young which opens up to a more pyramidal shape with maturity.
