Melaleuca quinquenervia grows at just above sea level and will also thrive at much higher elevations. It withstands frost and heat.
This tree is a native to Australia. It has spongy whitish bark that peels off in wide strips - hence the common name of Paperbark tree. Flower spikes are creamy white. The leaves are blue gray and are strongly fragrant when crushed. Leaves are tinged with purple in frosty conditions.

Most soil types. This tree can tolerate drought and floods, but prefers to have minimum water.
